St Mark's Virtual Sports' Week - 6th July 2020

The children have been taking part in our virtual sports' week this week both from home and at school.

Red Ads have done a socially distanced 'Speed Bounce' today!

Activites include:

Bottle flip, Leaky Cup, Run Run Run, Under Over, Sock Dribble, Toilet Roll Run, Water Balloon Catch, Wall Sit and Balancing Cone-touch

Narwhal bubble Olympics

In addition to the Virtual Sports' Week events, the Narwhal bubble held their own mini Narwhal Olympics!

After the opening ceremony, complete with the official Narwhal Anthem, the children all competed in the following events:

Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shotput, Javelin and a Timed Sprint.

There were some fantastic results and all participants received a gold medal for their efforts.

Well done, Narwhals!

World Book Day

To celebrate World Book Day and the arrival of some of our new books, we held a 'book tasting' for both KS2 and KS1. KS2 sampled five different books and created menus which included the title, author and genre as well as their opnions of the cover, first few pages and whether they would read the book. A selection of three books were read to KS1 stopping at a cliffhanger at which point they had to vote for the one they would like to hear to the end. They then sampled some new books and drew some of their favourite book covers on their 'plates'! The book they voted for was, "The Very Greedy Bee."

The children made a real effort to dress up in costumes linked to food-related books and looked fabulous!

Community Tea

On Friday 18th October 2019, we held our annual 'Community Tea'. Each classroom showcased the work they had produced over the term and set up activities, related to their learning, for parents and visitors to take part in. Caterpillar and Egglet class decorated the hall and served tea and cakes to the community. We would like to thank everybody who came along,  as we raised £176, which will be going towards play equipment for the children to use at lunchtime.
