The Book of Hopes
We have been lucky enough to receive some copies of a wonderful book, The Book of Hopes, edited by the inspiring author, Katherine Rundell. There is an online copy of the book which is free to access and which I would strongly recommend you take a look at and share with your child. The book is a collection of poems, stories, extracts and pictures contributed to by fabulous authors, to "comfort, inspire and entertain" in what is still an incredibly challenging time for all.
Summer Reading Challenge
Libraries may be closed but the Summer Reading Challenge is ON!!! Sign up here to begin your challenge...
Take a look at the books below, that other children in the school have read, to get ideas! Thank you, Jason, for being our first Summer Reading Challenge subscriber. :-) Thank you to Iris who has also joined. :-)
Jason (aka Professor Merlin Sausage-Roll) has done a great job of working his way through the Harry Potter audio books and along with two Star Wars books has now completed his challenge - before the summer holiday has even started! Congratulations!
Think you might need to extend that 6 book target over the hols! ;-)

I will be reading chapters of J.K Rowlings fantastic new story, The Ickabog, which she has shared online for children to read during lockdown. Click on the picture to visit her website where you can read chapters for yourself or please find audio of me reading a chapter per day. J.K Rowling has also invited children to send in illustrations for the story. Check out the website for how to do this. How exciting! Share your illustrations with me and I will add them to our gallery.
Enjoy - Mrs P :-)
P.S Beware, The Ickabog may not be suitable for KS1/R
Attached above, is the document I will be using for the Reading at Home workshop on Wednesday 10th July 2019.
